Potters are life’s optimists. We think that lump of clay in front of us will become something special to us and maybe someone else because of its shape, its glaze, or its design. The potter does not focus on the ones that collapse during construction, crack during drying, or possible even explode when being fired. They are about what could be. They share a farmer’s attitude: You plant again, even though last year had too much or too little rain. Your expectations continue to be positive.
