Uwharrie Woodworking

All of Wes Sherrill’s items require precision and an artistic eye to make them functional and appealing for home décor or everyday use. His goal is to create unique pieces that can be enjoyed today and passed down for generations.  All wood used (except exotic wood) is local and environmentally sourced, meaning it was destined to be burned or disposed of in a landfill. Bowls and charcuterie boards have all been finished with food safe finishes.

Wes is a native of Concord, NC. He had his first experience with woodworking in junior high school where he made two end tables and lamps that his family used in their house for many years.  Wes has been married for almost 50 years to his high school sweetheart, Kathy, and they have two grown children. Although born and raised in Concord, he has spent every summer of his life enjoying beautiful Lake Tillery. The love of the lake was so great that he and Kathy permanently moved to Lake Tillery/Norwood in 2017.

Wes was a consulting civil engineer working on site development projects throughout North and South Carolina until his retirement in 2022.

His retirement allowed him to return to his love of woodworking. He and his son built a small shop, and on most days, you can find him there handcrafting items on his lathe, such as wood bowls, vases, candlesticks and charcuterie boards.

Wes has a wide variety of handcrafted wood products for purchase at Stanly Arts Guild. He also has many products in his shop, so contact him if you don’t see what you are looking for.
