SUMMARY:The Art of Jubal & Kenly Strube
DESCRIPTION:Stanly Arts Guild is honored to present an exhibition of selected artwork by Jubal and Kenly Strube of Strube’s Creative Studio. Now available for viewing at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center. We hope you are able to spend some time to enjoy their work.\nJubal Strube: \nBorn in Mt. Pleasant\, North Carolina\, Jubal Strube discovered a passion for the arts during middle school: a spark that grew into a lifelong dedication to creativity and expression. This early love for artistic exploration guided Jubal toward formal training in the visual arts\, beginning with an Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in Concord\, NC 2016. \nContinuing to develop both skill and vision\, Jubal Strube earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019. To further merge a love of art with a passion for education\, Jubal Strube completed a Teaching Certificate at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2024. \nSince 2023\, Jubal Strube has served as a Visual Arts Teacher at West Stanly High School\, inspiring young artists to explore their creativity and build confidence through artistic practice. Jubal’s work and teaching emphasize the importance of personal expression\, technical growth\, and the transformative power of the arts in everyday life. \nKenly Strube: \nKenly Strube grew up in the rural town of Olivia\, NC. Her passion for creativity and the arts started when she was young and matured as she went through high school. She obtained her BFA in Studio Art at UNC Chapel Hill in 2019. Kenly demonstrates an illustrative style: emphasizing her passion for nature\, video games\, and fantasy through her art and style. Her career path has evolved over time\, ranging from theatre props creator\, to currently the visual arts teacher at South Stanly High School. \n  \nRecently\, Kenly and her husband\, Jubal Strube\, have started a small business together\, Strube’s Creative Studio\, by completing customers creative needs. Services range from custom pet portraits\, film restoration\, murals\, and much more! \n \n

Our next Member’s Show will be January 14th thru February 7th\, 2026. Art take-in will be January 9th  & January 10th\, 2026. DESCRIPTION:We have a wonderful Mixed Media workshop coming up with none other than Susan Lackey!  \nSusan will guide you through a series of steps in this stress-free process. Using synthetic spider webs (Halloween kind) and watercolor paint\, you will create textures on two different surfaces: Yupo and watercolor paper. The textured surfaces can be used alone as an abstract painting\, or as a background for subjects (as shown in The Southeastern Long-beaked Teal Bird and the Cat). \nSkill levels: All skill levels. No experience required. \nPrice: Includes ALL materials. $30 for Stanly Arts Guild Members / $40.00 for Non-Members \nAges: adults \nLAST DAY TO REGISTER: January 15th\, 2026. SUMMARY:The Art of Laura Krug
DESCRIPTION:by Laura Krug 2025\nLaura Krug has been a resident of Stanly County for 22 years. Her home looks upon Morrow Mountain which has provided artistic inspiration at sunrise and sunset for her appreciation of nature. She worked for years as a registered nurse and has three children and 5 grandchildren. \nLaura does community service as a volunteer in several organizations including Extension Master Gardeners\, Stanly County Beekeepers\, Three Rivers Quilt Guild\, First Lutheran Church Women’s group\, the Stanly Christian Community Inn\, Friends of Morrow Mountain State Park and the Hospice of Stanly County. Laura loved taking her Therapy Dogs Valley and then Enzo to visit patients at local nursing homes\, the Cancer Center and Atrium Medical Center. Unfortunately her current dog Oscar isn’t suited to therapy work. \nLaura has been painting for about 10 years\, beginning with lessons with Beverly Dixon and now studies with the award winning local artist Janet Fisher. She received an honorable mention for an abstract painting named Fairy Lake and most recently the Stanly Arts Guild Member’s Choice Award for her painting titled Poppies. \nHer favorite classic artist is Vincent Van Gogh\, finding his approach to depicting nature and use of vibrant colors inspirational. Laura’s chosen medium is acrylic paint and has dabbled with watercolor. Laura enjoys trying new techniques and painting subjects.

DESCRIPTION:We have so many talented photographers in our area! Several years ago The Guild added an annual photography competition and exhibition to show off their talents. Sometimes the annual show will involve a particular theme\, while other years will employ a  “photographer’s choice” to allow photographers to enter photos of any subject they prefer. After all\, we’ve all have our favorite topics. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 2021\, we lost one of our amazing photographer members\, and the annual photography show now carries his name in memoriam. Dwight J. Dennis was always a huge supporter of our members\, our community\, and The Guild. He was a cheerleader for all our shows\, but this one had a special place in his heart\, since photography was his passion. The annual photography show is now entitled: Dwight J. Dennis Memorial Photography Exhibition and Competition.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAwarded prizes are 1st\, 2nd\, 3rd and 2 honorable mentions. Prize money will be $300 for 1st place\, $200 for 2nd place & $100 for 3rd place.  Honorable Mentions may be given at the judge’s discretion. SUMMARY:Dwight J. Dennis Memorial Photography Exhibition and Competition
DESCRIPTION:We have so many talented photographers in our area! Several years ago The Guild added an annual photography competition and exhibition to show off their talents. Sometimes the annual show will involve a particular theme\, while other years will employ a  “photographer’s choice” to allow photographers to enter photos of any subject they prefer. After all\, we’ve all have our favorite topics. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 2021\, we lost one of our amazing photographer members\, and the annual photography show now carries his name in memoriam. Dwight J. Dennis was always a huge supporter of our members\, our community\, and The Guild. He was a cheerleader for all our shows\, but this one had a special place in his heart\, since photography was his passion. The annual photography show is now entitled: Dwight J. Dennis Memorial Photography Exhibition and Competition.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAwarded prizes are 1st\, 2nd\, 3rd and 2 honorable mentions. Prize money will be $300 for 1st place\, $200 for 2nd place & $100 for 3rd place.  Honorable Mentions may be given at the judge’s discretion. All entries must be no more than 5 years old and must not have previously won a ribbon in a Stanly Arts Guild show. In 2026\, this show will be judged by William Dixon\, Jr. It will be on display at The Stanly Arts Guild’s new location\, 152 W. Main St in Albemarle\, from February 24th thru March 21st.

Follow Stanly Arts Council calendar for their schedule of events. \nWe have been honored to have had a presence in this Annual Celebration! \n  \nA FREE event open to the public to learn more about the arts in Stanly County. \nStudent Art Show:  Come view the county-wide student art show\, showcasing the best from each elementary\, middle\, and high school in Stanly County plus work from the advertising\, graphic design\, and simulation and game animation students from Stanly Community College. SUMMARY:High School Art Shows
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, the Stanly Arts Guild works with the local high school art teachers in Stanly County to host shows for the many talented students enrolled in their classes. This includes private\, as well as public\, high schools. The teachers and students get involved in setting up the shows that showcase and encourage the emerging talent we have in Stanly county. The shows are typically 1-2 weeks in length for each school\, with a reception for the students & their families at the end of the show. There are no prizes awarded but there may be a graduating senior whose work is showcased for some schools. DESCRIPTION:Each year\, the Stanly Arts Guild works with the local high school art teachers in Stanly County to host shows for the many talented students enrolled in their classes. This includes private\, as well as public\, high schools. The teachers and students get involved in setting up the shows that showcase and encourage the emerging talent we have in Stanly county.\nIn these shows every entry is a winner\, but the big winners are those of us viewing the show\, as the talent and imagination of these young artists are truly amazing.\nStarting off for our enjoyment\, is the wonderful talent of the students of Gray Stone Day School. We have not had the opportunity to showcase their talent in the past\, and we are so honored to be able to do so! Please come and view their work.
