SUMMARY:Make\, Do and Mend with Instructor Dawn Hopkins
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is the beginning of a series of workshops that will teach you the basics of hand and machine sewing.  This first class will focus on mending a seam\, repairing a ripped seam in jeans or under a button.  No experience in sewing is required.  This is a life skill that can save you money as well as extend the life of a shirt\, pants or blouse.  Open to ages 12 to 100.  All materials are provided.  Bring an open mind and an eagerness to learn.  Also\, bring a snack or light lunch with a drink. \nTo register\, call 704-983-4278\, or come by Stanly Arts Guild and Gifts\, located at 330 North Second Street in Albemarle\, NC \n$10 of the workshop fee will go to the SAG Education Fund for Scholarships.

SUMMARY:April Guild Meeting - With Alicia Herrin
DESCRIPTION:Come on out to 330 North Second Street at 6:45 for the monthly Guild Meeting.  This months Speaker will be Alicia Herrin from the Small Business Center. \nAlicia is the Director of Small Business & Entrepreneurial Development at the Stanly Community College Small Business Center\, (SBC)\, in downtown Albemarle. She has been a great source of information & guidance to us during the time we were closed & either trying to find a new home or working to get our new space ready. \nAlicia has been with the SBC since August of 2013. During her almost six years of service she has assisted numerous entrepreneurs through business start-up and/or expansion. She holds degrees in Business Administration and Accounting and has specialty certifications in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. Alicia has a sincere passion for assisting entrepreneurs and has spent much of her career devoted towards helping them succeed! \nThe Stanly Community College Small Business Center (SBC) supports the development of new businesses and the growth of existing businesses by being a community-based provider of training\, business counseling and resource information. \nAs a member of the NC Community College System Small Business Center Network (SBCN)\, the SBC’s services are provieded at a low or NO cost to the local community. \nVisit the SBC’s page on www.stanly.edu to access training opportunities\, additional resources\, and information.
