SUMMARY:Summer Art Explosion
DESCRIPTION:This is an “anything goes” type of show. There is no official theme. This show occurs during the long mid-summer days\, and it’s just time for FUN art. We usually have a wonderful variety of art on display during this competition/show. Awarded prizes are 1st\, 2nd & 3rd place for 2 categories –  2-D art\,  and 3-D art. This show is a wonderful opportunity for artists of all types to enter their work and perhaps walk away with a ribbon and cash prize for their creativity. All entries must not have previously won a ribbon in a Stanly Arts Guild show.

Discover the wonderful possibilities of painting with this versatile and forgiving medium!\nFor artists new to the medium\, you’ll learn about the best materials and methods to get you up to speed creating successful paintings.\nFor those artists who have experience in pastel\, you’ll get try other art media that compliment pastel\, and new exciting ways to use them to express your artistic ideas.\nIn this relaxed class atmosphere\, you will learn about the best materials to use\, techniques for applying the pastel to achieve different textures\, and tools and products that give the artist a successful outcome for their painting.\nIf you want to be a part of the class but don’t want to purchase a lot of supplies\, everything will be available by the instructor for you to try. \nMalia is a pastel artist from Locust\, North Carolina. She has studied pastel painting with many nationally known pastel artists. Malia’s award-winning work has been included in state and national exhibitions. Her paintings received a first place and Honorable Mention award in the animal category of Pastel Magazine Pastel 100 Competition. \nClass Fee: $60.00 (SAG Members $50.00) \nSUGGESTED Supply List (Don’t worry if you don’t have everything because I always bring extra supplies) \n\nReference photos. Select subjects meaningful to you and that you feel confident drawing. Ideally they should have a good range of dark\, medium and light values.\nWhatever pastels (not oil pastels) you might have. DESCRIPTION:The Artist Support Grant (ASG) was created by the North Carolina Arts Council to provide direct support to individual artists during and following the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible artists must reside in Region 12\, which include the counties of Anson\, Montgomery\, Moore\, Richmond\, Stanly or Union.
