SUMMARY:Chair Painting with Vicki Galloway
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThis is a fun painting workshop for painters who would like to give a great Mother’s Day gift\, or show off their talents at home or in the garden.  You can choose between a Child size  or student desk chair.  If you want to bring your own chair\, make sure it is clean and ready to paint. SUMMARY:Weave a Pine Needle Basket with Shakeeka Watts
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop you will learn the basic steps to making a coiled pine needle basket plate.  You will start your basket with a wrapped coil for the base.  The instructor will guide you as you use a basic single stitch method to bind the pine needle coils together.  You will be introduced to a variety of threads such as: Waxed Linen\, Sinew\, Crochet\, and Raffia.  Once completed\, you will have your own pine needle basket plate and needle.  No previous weaving experience is necessary\, just an enthusiasm to learn.  All materials will be provided.  Bring a snack or lunch.  $10 of your fee goes to the Stanly Arts Guild Education Fund. \n

SUMMARY:Pencil Portrait Drawing with Betsy Hollar
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to pick up a pencil and draw the face of someone special?  Maybe you want to feel confident enough to draw your children or grandchildren.  Betsy teaches the fundamentals of portrait drawing using the grid method to create the portrait.  She demonstrates the tools to use for making changes and adding shadows\, shading\, and creating the perfect eyes.  It is a fun workshop where you will be pleased at how well you can draw!  Ages 15 to 100 are accepted.  All materials are provided. She has been a great source of information & guidance to us during the time we were closed & either trying to find a new home or working to get our new space ready. \nAlicia has been with the SBC since August of 2013. During her almost six years of service she has assisted numerous entrepreneurs through business start-up and/or expansion. She holds degrees in Business Administration and Accounting and has specialty certifications in Entrepreneurship and Marketing.
